About the marketplace

What is Derbaba?

Derbaba is the first curated online marketplace dedicated to Ethiopian and Eritrean traditional clothing. We connect diaspora buyers in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Europe with verified sellers and artisan weavers in Addis Ababa, Gondar, Tigray, and Harari — as well as diaspora sellers in Toronto, Washington DC, and London.

Our marketplace features hand-loomed habesha kemis for weddings, graduations, baptisms, and everyday celebrations. We also carry men's traditional tunics and gabi, netela shawls and shash head coverings, hand-woven tibeb borders and tilet panels, and traditional accessories including Lalibela crosses and Harari beadwork.

Every seller on Derbaba is verified by our team. Buyers contact sellers directly via WhatsApp or Telegram to agree on price, sizing, and shipping. There is no intermediary — the full price goes to the maker. Sellers pay a flat $5 listing fee for 90 days with no commission on sales.
